Mission and Vision
Step It Up Dance 4Lyfe empowers youth and families in under-resourced communities through culturally-rooted performing arts education that builds confidence, promotes wellness, and creates a strong sense of belonging. We envision a world where every child in East Palo Alto and surrounding communities can access joyful, high-quality arts education that nurtures identity, unlocks potential, and strengthens community bonds.
About the Program
Our program offers weekly classes in Hip-Hop, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, West African, Afro-Haitian, Contemporary, and Praise Dance, alongside theater, vocal training, and costume design. Students explore both technical skills and cultural history, culminating in a public showcase that celebrates their growth. We have also recently decided to start a competitive dance group to showcase and bring the talent of our community to a greater audience.
